Abstract
A series of three narrated Powerpoint Lectures by Professor James Elander of the University of Derby, UK.
This first pesentation is about sickle cell patients' experience of pain and pain management in hospitals. Professor Elander provides an account of both patient and hospital staff perceptions, and overall patient perceptions are negative toward their healthcare provision and treatment. Prof. Elander concludes there is a need for further research in order to improve healthcare provision and to provide better interventions for sickle patients.
The teaching resources are available in multiple formats, including a narrated presentation, and as slides in PDF formats.
These series of resources are intended for students and educators involved in the study of social aspects of healthcare, or as part of biomedical, medical or nursing.
